The Practice

Bodhi Legal was founded in Bangkok with one focus: pension legal defence. The name draws on the bodhi tree — a symbol of patient, steady understanding — which reflects the approach we take with every matter. Nothing in pension law is resolved in haste, and our work is organised accordingly.

The practice was established by a solicitor who had spent a number of years working within larger commercial firms before concluding that pension disputes — particularly those involving retired individuals and their families — deserved a setting where the pace was slower, the written documents were clearer, and the client was never left uncertain about what had happened or what might happen next.

Our office is at 268 Wireless Road, Lumphini — a central, accessible location in Pathumwan, Bangkok. Meetings may also be arranged remotely where this is more convenient for the client or for family members who may wish to attend. We work in English and can arrange interpretation into Thai where required.

We take on a limited number of matters at any one time. This is deliberate. It allows the supervising solicitor to remain personally involved in each file, rather than delegating the substance of the work to junior staff.

Mission & Values

The work we do is guided by a small number of principles that inform every decision about how we take on matters and how we communicate.

Patience Before Pressure

We do not apply pressure to clients at any stage. Decisions about next steps are made at the client's pace, with written summaries available at each point so there is time to consider before responding.

Written Clarity

Every assessment, correspondence outcome, and available option is put in writing. Clients — and their families — can read, re-read, and share these documents as they wish.

Focused Specialism

We work within pension law only. Clients are not passed between practice areas or assigned to whoever happens to be available. The same solicitor reads the file and advises throughout.

Transparency on Scope and Cost

The scope and fee of every service are confirmed in writing before work begins. There are no additions beyond the agreed amount.

The Team

A small, experienced group of legal professionals — each personally involved in client matters from start to finish.

Professional Standards

The protocols we follow are shaped by the requirements of pension legal work — careful record management, proportionate correspondence, and continuous attention to accuracy.

Client Confidentiality

All personal information, pension records, and correspondence are held under strict confidentiality. Nothing is shared with third parties without the client's knowledge.

Document Management

All client documents are stored securely and catalogued carefully. Clients may request copies of their file at any point during or after an engagement.

Proportionate Advice

We do not recommend proceedings that are unlikely to succeed. Where a matter is not strong, we say so clearly — in writing — and describe what options remain.

Timeline Communication

Clients are informed of expected timeframes at the start of each service, and notified promptly of any change to these estimates during the engagement.

Data Protection

Client data is handled in accordance with Thailand's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA). Clients retain rights over their personal information at all times.

Accessibility of Communication

We use plain language in all client communications. Where technical terms are necessary, they are explained. Thai language interpretation is available on request.

Pension Legal Defence in Thailand

Individuals who have worked in Thailand or abroad and contributed to pension schemes over many years sometimes face unexpected challenges — contribution records that appear incomplete, decisions from pension authorities that are difficult to interpret, or payment suspensions that were not adequately explained. These situations are distressing, particularly for older clients or those managing the matter at a distance.

Bodhi Legal was established to address exactly this kind of situation. The practice is small by design. A smaller caseload allows for more careful attention to each file and more time spent with each client, which is particularly important when the client may be an older person, or when family members need to be involved in understanding the situation.

The three services offered cover the main stages at which legal support is typically needed: an initial assessment of whether the pension records appear to reflect correct entitlement; formal support for reinstatement where payments have been affected; and representation at tribunal if a matter reaches that stage. Each service is priced clearly and documented in writing before work begins.

Our office is located in Lumphini, Pathumwan — one of Bangkok's most accessible business districts, close to the BTS and MRT networks. Clients who prefer not to travel to the office are welcome to meet remotely, and written summaries of every meeting are provided as a matter of course.
